Train e-ticket booking


About e-Ticket

e-Ticket means the train ticket that booked online from house,
information kiosks etc without going at Railway counter. It has same
validity as ticket issued from Railway Booking Counter. But an e-Rail
ticket holder required Identity Card during their travel.

Requirement:

  1. Valid e-mail ID
  2. Bank Account (with ATM cum Debit Card or Internet Banking facility
    or Credit Card)
  3. Internet enabled Personal Computer (PC)
  4. Registration with www.irctc.co.in and valid User ID and
    Password

Who can book the ticket?

  1. Any person having above facility and want to travel by Indian Rail
    can book an e-Ticket
  2. A ticket can also booked on the behalf of your family members or
    friends

Requirement of Identity Card

An e-Rail ticket holder should carry Identity Card during their
travel. One from the following can be uses as Identity Card:

  1. Passport
  2. Voter Identity Card
  3. Pan Card
  4. Driving License
  5. Photo I/d card of Central/ State Government

How to start e-Rail Ticket Booking

Step-1: Register with
IRCTC.

Step-2: Log onto http://www.irctc.co.in/ and click on SIGN
UP menu


Step-3: After registering
with IRCTC portal you will get User ID and Password.

Step-4: Log onto http://www.irctc.co.in/ and enter your User ID
& Password and Click on Login button

Step-5: Please enter the
name of your starting station and select the code from drop down box
given under From menu.

Step-6: Under To menu enter
the name of last station upto where you want to book your ticket and
select the code from drop down box.

Step-7: Select Date of
Journey and Class (i.e. 2nd class sleeper, 3rd AC, 2nd AC)

Step-8: Check the box of
e-Ticket. If you want to book ticket under Tatkal Quota then also check
the Tatkal box.

Step-9: Click on Find Train
Menu. After that, list of train will appear.

Step-10: Please select any
train according to your schedule. Then click on Availability menu to
check whether seats are available or not.

Step-11: If required seats
are available then click on Book Ticket Menu

Step-12: Enter the name,
age, sex and berth choice of passenger who wants to travel.

Step-13: Click on Go menu
given at the bottom of the page.

Step-14: Full ticket details
will appear before you. If details are OK then click on Make Payment
button.

Step-15: You will find list
of all Banks. Please select your bank and that will redirect you to
Bank website.

Step-16: Enter User ID and
Password of that bank or any other details asked by that bank and then
transfer amount.

Step-17: After that train
ticket will appear. Please take the print of that ticket.

Step-18: You will get an SMS
and mail regarding train ticket booking with details of PNR etc.

Step-19: After taking print
of train ticket, click on Log Out button to come out from IRCTC
website.

How to cancel booked ticket

Step-1: Log onto to http://www.irctc.in/ and enter your User ID and
Password

Step-2: Click on Cancel E-Ticket or
Booked History
button available under My Transaction menu

Step-3: Enter your IRCTC password and click on Go button.

Step-4: Select the ticket which you want to cancel and then click on
Cancel E-Ticket button and follow the process.

How to check PNR status of your train
ticket

Through Mobile

Step-1: Dial 139, follow the instruction and enter 10 digits PNR

Through website

Step-1: Log onto http://www.indianrail.gov.in/
or http://www.irctc.co.in/ and enter 10 digit PNR

Train I-ticket booking


  • Register as an individual. Registration is FREE.
  • Login by entering your user name and password.
  • The "Plan my travel" page appears.
  • If the From/To station selected by you are correct in the route of the train then :
  • Select i-Ticket option.
  • Select the type of Quota
  • To find train list, click on "Find Trains" option.
  • The List of Trains show the number of trains available for that route.
  • If you wish to know the route and the timings, click on the train name under the "List of Trains" option.
  • To get the fare, click on class available in the selected train under "List of Trains". It will show fare according to type of class selected. The fare appearing is for a single adult Passenger excluding the service charges charged by IRCTC and by the Bank (Credit Card/Direct Debit).
  • To select the train from the train list, click on the type of class available in the selected train.
  • If you will click on the class in the train list then it will show the train details with availability
  • To book tickets, click on "Book" button under availability option.
  • If you wish to select other train, click on "RESET" button.
  • Ticket reservation page appears; check whether the train name and the station names displayed on the top of the page are same as desired by you.
  • Enter the names of the Passengers, age, sex and berth preference for each Passenger. The maximum length of names should be restricted to 15 characters. If the Passenger is a senior citizen (60 years and above for male and 58 years and above for female) and wants to avail Senior Citizens' concession (40% of Base fare for male and 50% of base fare for female), click the box provided. Senior citizens are requested to carry some proof of age in original during their journey. A sample form is reproduced below. (The allotment of your required berth depends on the availability).

  • The ticket details, availability of tickets at the particular time and the fare, including the service charge, appear on the
    screen, along with the payment option "Follow the instructions".
  • Click on the button "Make Payment" and a pop-up window will give the list of payment options. Please choose one of the mode of payment. Please click on the payment option below for help regarding the payment procedure through each of these options.
  • Once your payment is authorised the ticket booking will be processed and you will see the confirmation of your booking as follows.
  • You are requested to note down the transaction ID and PNR number displayed on this page for future reference.
  • Tickets will be delivered, to the shipping address that you have chosen on the reservation form.
  • If you are not available to collect the ticket, you may authorize any person to receive the ticket on your behalf.
  • Person receiving the ticket should produce an authorisation letter to receive the ticket on your behalf and also, should mention the PNR Number and Transaction ID to the courier.
  • If, for any reason, the reservation does not materialise, the entire amount debited from your credit card account will be credited back to your card account. If you want to try for the same reservation again, it will be treated as a fresh booking.
  • After pressing the "Buy" button, if the "Ticket reservation page" is not displayed due to power failure or Internet link failure, please click the "Booked Tickets" menu on the left side of the screen. This page contains all the details of the tickets booked by you. If the reservation desired by you finds a place in the above page, you can note down the transaction id, PNR and other details. The tickets will be delivered as desired by you. You are also advised
    to check your e-mail or contact IRCTC, if necessary.
  • If you require to book another ticket, click "BOOK ANOTHER TICKET"and you will be taken again to "Plan my Travel and book tickets" page.
